Finally the warm weather is coming. We are working hard to get the park ready after the Winter weather. With strong winds there have been a few trees down which we are working to clean up to make it a safe and beautiful park for everyone who visits us.

There is a lot going on in today's world. Sunday's don't seem to be used for a day of rest anymore and it seems that families don't get together like they use to. Fast pace and always go go go. We need to get back to our roots. With everything going on we could use a step back. And by that I mean a step back to when families got together every year for family reunions and catch up. Every year more and more family reunions don't happen. The younger generations don't take the time or even realize the importance of getting together with the older generations.
My family has a family reunion every year. Same time, same place, same weekend. And even with ours I noticed that the younger generations get less and less. We are losing more of the older generations and soon no one will have reunions. Everyone knows what day it is and can plan accordingly. Getting together with family shouldn't be an inconvenience. It should be a time to slow down and visit with those who won't be around forever. To the younger generations talk to the older generations. Start helping out with planning and getting your cousins involved and remind them when it is and to stop by. Even for an hour. Bring the family reunions back to life. Wherever you are and wherever you decide to have it. I encourage everyone to do what they can to spread the word in their families and get them going again. Ashlee This past June I got in engaged to the man of my dreams. After the excitement settled it was time to look for where we were going to get married. As I started to look I was amazed at how much rentals were for an outside wedding. Trust me I know that places need to make money but a lot of them were very high.
One that we had looked at the lowest package they had was $4,975 (Not including food) and was only a 5 hour rental. And around here that just seems like a crazy amount to pay. Breaking it down that's about $20 per guest if you have 250 guests. We are inviting about 150 so that would be about $33. Wildcat Park offers two of their pavilions for $175 and two of the smaller pavilions for $125. With the beautiful park to explore and a newer playground for the kids to enjoy. Breaking that down for 150 guests that is $1.17 per guest. (This does not include the $1 gate fee the park already has established) If the Bride and Groom chooses to pay the gate fee that is still less than $3 per guest. And BONUS you get the pavilion for the day. Why break the bank for a beautiful wedding when just heading outside of Ludlow there is a beautiful park for your special day. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT! If you would like to reserve a pavilion for your special day or more information you can call us at 814-945-6373 or visit our reservations page right here on the website! It is that time of year! Look in your mail for the bright orange membership drive letters from us here at Wildcat park.
I was thinking today that it is a shame that more and more less families are getting out and enjoying the fresh air and less get-togethers and reunions. As I sit here thinking of how cold it is outside, I also think of the warm breeze with the smell of the creek and the Hemlocks. And listening to the kids play on the playground and the chit chat of families catching up after being cooped up all Winter. Wildcat Park is a great place for any gathering and one you can pack up and go take a walk any day. Warm weather is coming and can't wait to see y'all this summer! Due to the high being 2 degrees on Saturday. We are postponing the lights drive with more info to follow.
To keep those working and to all of you coming down we have decided to postpone due to the high of Saturday being 2. We can't thank our supporters enough. We can't wait to see what the 2018 season brings and we hope to see you down there enjoying Wildcat park! Memberships make great stocking stuffers. The park has so much to offer.
The Bridle trail for one. A trail where Elizabeth Olmsted once walked her horses from her barn at Olmsted to Wildcat park where horse shows were once held. The creek that runs through the heart of Wildcat. Where you can fish, cool off or just sit on the bench and enjoy the sound of the babbling creek. The beautiful Red Bridge that is a great location for pictures. Recreation such as basketball, tennis, volleyball, baseball, full playground and plenty of acreage for a nice walk. There are also plenty of stone tables and picnic tables around the park where you can come on down for family picnics. And while you are there don't forget to stop by the beautiful Veterans memorial and take a moment to think about all those who we are thankful for that has served and protected this great country. Memberships are $250 for a lifetime, 1 year family is $20 and 1 year single is $10. And with so much to offer it can be a lasting tradition to meet up at the park.
